Masks & Testing
Does my child need to wear a mask at camp?
Whenever we are indoors at Camp all campers and staff will be required to wear a mask. The exceptions to this will be during meal times for all campers and sleep times for overnight campers.
When campers are outside, the majority of our time, campers will not be required to wear masks provided appropriate social distancing is in place.
Will a negative test be required before arrival?
That's a great question! We are still awaiting New York State Department of Health guidelines on the requirements for testing prior to arrival at camp.
All staff will be tested prior to their arrival for staff training.
Will a quarantine period be required before arrival?
Similarly to above, we are not sure what the State will mandate when it comes to arrival. We will contact all registered families as soon as we are made aware of those requirements.
Beaver Cross has been operating throughout the COVID 19 pandemic with retreats, after school programs, youth groups, and events! We are experienced in running fun and safe programs that will not make these requirements the focus of your child's time at camp!
How many campers will be in a cabin?
Traditionally, our Beaver Cross cabins can hold up to 14 campers. We are reducing our capacity this summer by 50% allowing only 7 campers per cabin.
Will each cabin be its own cohort?
Each Lodge at Beaver Cross houses 2 cabins and therefore each Lodge will be its own cohort with 14 campers.
Do campers need to sleep in a mask?
Will the food be served 'buffet' style or 'family' style?
All food will be served buffet style by our dining team. Campers will only come into contact with their own plate as all food will be behind a plexiglass screen. Food options and choices will remain the same as previous years.
How will seating work?
All meals for the 2021 season will be eaten outside under our large dining tent. This is something that has happened in prior years and is not new to us here.
Cohorts will be grouped together while still maintaining appropriate social distance. Masks will not be required when eating.
As a New York State licensed camp program we will follow all guidelines provided by the State to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Cleaning & Sanitizing
How often are surfaces cleaned around camp?
Each space will be sanitized before being used by another group of campers. For sports, that would be the sanitizing of shared equipment. For crafts, that would be the sanitizing of tables and shared equipment.
Bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized periodically throughout the day and after usage of each group of campers.
Will hand sanitizer be available around camp?
Yes! Each activity area will have a hand sanitizing station that will be available to all campers.
